Rachel & Woods
About Me
Hello there! I'm Rachel, and I'm delighted to welcome you to my corner of the internet. I am a 38 year old mom of an almost 3 year old son named Woods. We have a doberman, 6 rabbits, 35 laying hens, 9 acres and big plans for our future farm on Wild Acres. I am a chaos gardener turned small scale farmer, and have the "how hard can it be" gene. Turkeys, Ducks and Pigs to come in 2024!
Who Am I?
I am a mother, a pioneering first-generation farmer, and a Farmpreneur based in Sherman, Connecticut, with a heartfelt mission to foster connections between our local farms and individuals who are passionate about supporting local agriculture. I am dedicated to combatting food insecurity within our community.
My Story
For a decade, I dedicated my career to the recruitment industry, helping individuals find the perfect job opportunities. Now I am additionally embarking on an exciting journey to link Fairfield County residents with Connecticut-based farmers who share our passion for locally sourced produce and pasture-raised meat. At Farms and Woods, we're redefining the online shopping experience by bringing a farmers market type experience directly to your doorstep, offering convenient delivery options.
What I Do
I identify farmers and merchants who boast exceptional inventory, including fresh produce, pasture-raised protein and handmade goods, and who are eager to expand their customer base. My aim is to introduce them to this online community, with the hope that you'll explore their offerings and show your support for these local business owners.
Why I Do It
I pursue this passion with wholehearted dedication. Gardening brings me immense joy, and providing nourishment to others is a source of fulfillment for me. I believe it's my purpose to extend a helping hand to those who may be facing food instability, sharing the bounty of my efforts. That's why every transaction on Farms and Woods contributes to a donation for a nearby food bank. Additionally, we provide complimentary and reduced-price options for local families in need.
My Interests
Outside of tending to my garden and spending time with my son, I frequently immerse myself in the natural world. I hold a deep passion for outdoor activities, such as hiking, boating, and late-night stargazing. These interests not only grant me a crucial sense of equilibrium in my life but also serve as wellsprings of inspiration that shape my work.
Let's Connect
I'm thrilled to have you here, and I'm always eager to connect with like-minded individuals. Feel free to connect with me on instagram or facebook. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, ideas, or just want to say hello.
Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to sharing this journey with you!
